Our children's dinnerware set consists of bamboo fiber, corn starch, wood fiber and a small proportion of melamine resin, which is necessary for bonding and shaping. It is safe to wash it in the dishwasher for up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, but not for the microwave. The material is very sturdy, however, when it drops, it can break. Unlike porcelain, it does not shatter, which minimizes the risk of injury.
