Varathane 1 qt. Black Wood Interior Gel Stain is designed for enhancing the natural grain of wood surfaces such as doors, molding, windows, trim, and paneling. Its gel formula offers easy application with ultimate control, making it ideal for vertical surfaces. The stain provides a rich, semi-transparent color that allows the wood grain to show through, covering up to 200 sq. ft. per quart with most surfaces needing only one coat. It prevents drips and runs due to its thick consistency, ensuring a smooth finish without lap marks or grain raise. This stain is versatile for use on interior or exterior surfaces, including metal, fiberglass, and composite doors, and cleanup is simple with mineral spirits. For best results, it's recommended to wait a minimum of 8 hours before applying oil-based polyurethane and 24 hours before water-based polyurethane to protect the stained surface.
