The heart of the EOS R3 is a Canon-developed 24.1-megapixel back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, paired with the DIGIC X processor for faster readout speeds, enabling continuous blackout-free shooting at up to 30 fps in electronic (silent) shutter mode with minimal rolling distortion. This combination also improves low-light performance, offering a native ISO of 102400 for still images. The updated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system includes 1,053 AF points and enhanced subject tracking for people, animals, and select vehicles, even down to EV -7.5. The camera offers multiple AF control options, including Eye Control AF, Smart Controller, and a traditional multi-controller. A new multi-function hot shoe eliminates the need for extra batteries and cables for accessories such as microphones and flash transmitters. Additionally, the EOS R3 provides flexible connectivity options with built-in wired LAN, GPS, USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
